Re: Electric vehicles now required to conform to ECE R100
Not correct now I am afraid. As of last week ALL cars with rechargeable energy storage systems will need laboratory testing to prove they comply with RESS ECE R100. Anyone converting may be pulled on this when they apply to change the V5. Anyone applying to IVA a vehicle will need to prove it compli...

Electric vehicles now required to conform to ECE R100
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but I have just been copied in on a leaked memo that has been sent out to all VOSA officials regarding EV's They are now stating that any vehicle that has a battery conversion and subsequent application to change the V5 fuel type will have to conform with RESS. PEEL TRIDENT EV
Well it just had to be done, nice and light, fairly well streamlined, lithium pack and a hub motor in the rear wheel, silent and funny to see on the roads. Just the lights to sort and a little to remove from the grp around the tyres as you can hear it catch at the end of this little clip. What fun w...

Re: ETRIKE BY MILLS EXTREME VEHICLES LTD
Hi, we do use the LEMCO motors most of the time.
Build costs are roughly;
£1000 motor/contoller/contactor
6x£50 batteries
£100 second hand quad bits
£50 second hand bike bits
£50 steel etc.
I will be at Santa pod too, it would be intersting to compare motors.

Re: ETRIKE BY MILLS EXTREME VEHICLES LTD
Easiest thing to do is turn your controller down so it only goes 28mph and has only 4kw. At under 270kgs (excluding batteries) it would then be classed as a 3 wheeled moped. Then you can have handle bar brakes. On mine we have 2 rear wheels that are more than 460mm (centres) apart so it is classed a...

Re: ETRIKE BY MILLS EXTREME VEHICLES LTD
Thinking about it, I passed my Missile on MSVA and the rear brakes were poor as a caliper was sticking but they do not do a balance test and cannot fail on rear brakes, just front.

Re: ETRIKE BY MILLS EXTREME VEHICLES LTD
Have you read the rules re brakes for MSVA? Open to interpretation. Moped rules differ but you need to be under 4kw. I have passed one with dual brakes. You must ask the inspector to refer you to the relavant section wording in the manual if your they are failing it. They can' just make rules on the...
