As for your shares Jon, how are the CEO's etc doing in the company  Well I imagine that he is not doing as well as he was a year ago. I don't expect you to research the company but he has in the past put his money where his mouth is and, like mine, his share are worth half what they were a ye...

Don't mind me, I talk to myself all the time :) Well I for one am quite happy reading you talking to yourself. The difference in speed in either direction is a bit of a pain, as I want to run one motor clockwise and the other anticlockwise. Don't get too obsesed with that. The issue would be any SI...

Re: 12v Water Heating
Would this work? http://www.reuk.co.uk/Wind-Turbine-Water-Heating.htm It would work, however you don't need the battery. I did read of someone using wild AC from a turbine to provide background heat in his house. Resistive heaters don't care about the frequence and are fairly tolerant about the vol...

I've always been led to believe that the colder air means more oxygen, which means fewer pumping losses and that means increased efficinecy for any given power...

A nuclear power station cannot be switched up and down to match the load requirements and so the excess energy has to go somewhere,. Don't know where you get that idea from but yes they can. IMHO it's a misunderstanding. Civil nuclear plant is very poor at adjusting the level of output. It's very s...

Re: more lead acid questions
1/ In a prevoius post, JonSpence grouped lead acids into the following categories: Starting, Leisure, Semi-traction. Traction, Deep cycle, I understand the difference ..., but what's the difference between deep cycle and traction? As I provided the terms I suppose that I should explain what I under...

I'm not sure that constantly running a PbA battery at a higher temperature will shorten it's life. Though a quick google implies that excessive temperatures will. However a PbA battery that has been drained is at more risk of freezing, which can be terminal. The same google remarked that discharge i...

I've come across warming pads on ebay and googled suppliers in the past. If you're having difficulty it's probably because you're looking for battery warming pads. They do exist, but they are less advertised than the same pads used to warm oil sumps. Here is a link to one supplier. http://www.padhea...
