Just a thought Andy, but have you checked this with a new voltmeter? Weren't you having some issues previously with a duff voltmeter?

I'll check my sakura charger at some point...

I don't think it's the voltmeter - that was ages ago that I was using an ancient, duffo analogue model, I'm using a proper digital voltmeter now.

Thinking of going for a 36v 2a charger from ebay - are these any good? And how urgent do people think the problem is?

We should try and get both chargers together.

Of course, You should also ring Sakura in London - They should be able to help.

Depends how much you want to get a refund on a duff battery , as Electricvehicles says , sounds like you might have a duff cell in a new battery, I've even had a brand new Yuasa go down on me during the first cycle  needless to say it got swapped out striaght away by the retailer.

If your SURE you had better volts when it was new and your sure the charger is OK I'd return the batts or find the duff one and return that one, the longer you leave it the more chance the retailer will say "sorry mate thats your fault you must have let it go flat"

oh no, not at all. As I say Ive written to sakura and talked to several people and looked it up, I've got a feeling it's ok but woul still benefit from a new charger. We shall see what we shall see...

I noticed the capacity of the batts has gone up - from 14ah to 15ah in the same package. Think they'll keep improving?

A new charger from Sakura is £49.50 - daylight robbery!

I would rather have a proper OEM branded charger though, I need it to last. That said a cheapo charger is about £30 which is a bit cheaper but of course doesn't have the guarantee.

I probably just won't bother until I'm flush again (which won't be for a while) or my existing charger breaks down (which I hope won't be for a while)

Still, the old batts + charger gave me over 100 charges, and that was second hand, so there probably isn't that much wrong with my existing charger. I should probably just do a big massive 24-hour trickle charge once a month or so on top of the ordinary charges.

Comments?
