powersafe batteries
powersafe batteries
I have got my hands on a number of powersafe chloride batteries vb.39 2volts, wonder if these are of any use to anyone? Can they be used in electric vehicles?

just found them online - see http://www.emergencypowerinc.com/statio ... _lead.html - scroll to the bottom of the page
as it happens i just bought a berlingo electrique a few days ago, and am waiting delivery next week. the new world of ev is very exciting!
we are stripping a building and came across these in the comms room along with masses of equipment - i think they were used as an emergency supply for computer systems in the building. there is no indication of age unfortunately.
i do have a picture of one, how do i post it here?

it's not advisable to intermix battery's as they wont be balanced. one cell ends up with a grater potential across it than the other, the results are,,, well undesirable
you could use what you have to make a new pack
are the batteries stuffed in your EV?
were abouts in the uk are you out of interest?

Thanks for the link JezF
Ah have you got one of the ones that have been on e-bay recently
Welcome to the world of blingos
The powersafes would sort of work in the blingo but there will be an issue regarding charging as the all the characteristics will be wrong for those batts Also they wont be as good as the Safts.
Where abouts are you in the UK are you ?? are you fully aware of all the blingos little niggles , if not pop down the the PSA forum below this one and check it out.

thanks for the tip chris, i'm based in north london and will be using it for the commute daily into town...
i have extensively researched the berlingo and its probs (well at least i thought i had until i saw the psa forum just a couple of mins ago!)
it is one of the ebay ones, 2000 model with 9000 miles from new.
just been to citroen for a service and batteries are 100% apparently (altho the reason why it went in was due to going into limp mode). one litre of water was used to top up the batteries during the course of the service, which according to citroen service manager is a good sign..
what are your thoughts on my purchase based on those facts? bear in mind i havent actually physically got it yet.
thanks lads
