Re: Old BMS Hardware Thread
Finally got around to doing the cutback mods, tested them this evening. However, I can't get the lower value to limit the current to anything less than 1.3A, and then the voltage on each PSU drops to about 15V. Is there another fixed resistor internally that I needed to change? The instructions I fo...

Good thing about the Ego is that controllers are readily available and well understood

Re: Old BMS Hardware Thread
Thanks :) Thinking about it, it makes a lot more sense to bring the current limit adjustment out of the PSU, at the moment I don't have the lids screwed on for current adjustment purposes. I'll probably do something similar to what you've done, then at least I can screw the lids back on! Of course t...

Re: Old BMS Hardware Thread
Peter: Hmm ok. Can you point me at a description of the Meanwell current limit mods? I think I've figured out a way I can implement charger cutback with very little disruption to my existing setup - am I right in thinking if I can find a suitable fixed-value resistor I can switch that in in parallel...

Re: Old BMS Hardware Thread
I can't remember what the lowest cell was, it was certainly 3.35 or 3.40. I'm going to see if I can get a better balance after a few cycles - using charger cutback could cause me major headaches as I hadn't really catered for it  I've got the charger cutoff set at a pack voltage of 87.50 and i...

Re: Old BMS Hardware Thread
Finally decided to bite the bullet and take a test run this evening - first thing I'm relieved about, no noise problems (although I am using shielded microphone cable for all the serial connections) :) The pocket TV now sits proudly above the dash of the scooter: http://s6.imagestime.com/out.php/i55...

Re: Old BMS Hardware Thread
You never know ;) More progress this evening - saved some code space by removing a menu item I wasn't using anyway, and restructured the code slightly to allow me to send the load off, send volts and load on commands in (relatively) quick succession - I've just worked out that on the 5 second cycle ...

Re: Old BMS Hardware Thread
Ok thanks, that's good to know. I was a bit concerned I might have damaged it soldering it to Greg's PCB - I had to break out the 80W soldering iron to get plenty of solder on there to reinforce the tracks, and things did get a little warm  I did accidentally order 2 so I have a spare, failing...

Re: Old BMS Hardware Thread
Thanks Peter - I did some mods to the code earlier for a constant 5 second monitor but they don't work so I've backed them out  I think I'm going to try and work on the basis of 1 second check in Run mode (I think the regen on my scooter can be fairly fierce) and 5 seconds in Idle and Charge. ...
