Re: Are Lift motors Useful?
An elevator motor? Hmmm, AC or DC? Six connections and V and W tags could mean it is a 3ph AC motor. Does it have a controller that you can access? Fork lift motors, or other series wound motors, are probably easier. There is a whole section on DIY Electric Car on motors. The sticky at the top may b...

Re: Are Lift motors Useful?
Ummmm, what sort of 'lift motor'? Fork lift? Lift in a building? Can you post some photos of it showing the whole thing, the drive end, the other end, the connections, any views inside showing brushes if it has any, etc. If it was a 6" series DC motor it might be useful but also might be a bit ...

Re: expensive
I found a couple of motors on Ebay. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220675933976&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT This is a pump motor with a female splined shaft. You would need to check suitability, spin direction and the means to spline a shaft to suit it or get it reshafted....

Re: New toy.........
I've followed discussions on the DIY forum about using this type of motor and the main issue that comes up is duty cycle and torque.
How long can it run at 7kW and what is the stall torque?
I suppose it is high speed so a lot of gearing down may be required.
Would be fun though.![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)

Re: expensive
Expensive depends on what you need and what is available. I would struggle to justify affording a few hundred on a motor at the moment but I know people who think nothing of spending a grand or two. Expense is relative. My 12" motor cost £100 (then a machinist doing me a favour wrecked it so I ...

How might I, or you, pursuade or suggest to my employer, Burnley College, that they may want to install a charge point? Sometime between now and the BLFCC on the 6th November the "Charge Points Everywhere" website will go live (http://www.chargepointseverywhere.com/" onclick="window.open(...

Re: Pushchair Pusher
That is really neat and very thoughtful and useful fo your wife. :D Wishing you both well with the new little one. :) I suppose it could also be set up as a puller if required. I am going to have to make something like that to move my trailers about. Getting fed up of heaving them about by muscle po...

Re: Charging Points - comments please
If you, or your brother's company, are in the Greater Manchester area maybe it would be worth seeing what is involved in adding a charge point to my house. I would need it controlled and switched on by request as someone is bound to start nicking electricity otherwise. I would also still fit a point...

Re: my VW golf conversion, (video link)
I wouldn't complain about the music, it is another EV after all.
I'd put up with most types of music if it promoted and encouraged more converters to take the plunge.
