Re: Disposal of old lithium batteries
Hi Tim Thanks for the reply, and apologies for my slow response. Yep, these were from Rob Sharpe and were used in my Fiat Seicento about 5 years back with some positive results. I put a commercial BMS on the pack which showed the battery voltages in a real-time visual histogram, and it was pretty cl...

Disposal of old lithium batteries
I have a number of 2008 Chinese HiPower 200Ah cells left over from a past project and noticed recently that one has swollen up alarmingly. I'll start testing remaining capacity of the rest with a view to keeping a few to use with an electric outboard, but any suggestions for how I can responsibly di...

Re: 2010 Citroen C1 VTR Electricity ELECTRIC CAR on eBay
So it could be that the batteries are all too discharged for the motor to turn, or at least to enable the Curtis?
It really needs someone on the ground to carry out some simple checks - I wonder how much interest they've had on this?

Re: 2010 Citroen C1 VTR Electricity ELECTRIC CAR on eBay
The large box with the twisted metal top right houses the main BMS board, so it's probably sustained damage to the board itself, and the box has been tampered with as the screws are out & the IDC connectors don't line up with the cutouts, also not good. Looks like the bleed resistor box has been...

Re: 2010 Citroen C1 VTR Electricity ELECTRIC CAR on eBay
Presumably when the ad says "DAMAGED METAL COVER BEHIND BUMPER AND CONTROL UNIT THAT MOUNTS TO COVER, IGNITION TURNS ON BUT WON'T DRIVE AS IT NEEDS THE UNIT REPLACING", it's referring to a damaged BMS or motor controller? Expensive to replace if you can get parts at all I guess, but low mi...

Re: LTC6802 based 12 cell slave.
Greg Just a thought - have you considered RS422 instead of 232? It's differential and intrinsically noise-rejecting, especially if used with tight twisted-pair cable each way and correctly terminated, plus it's pretty easy to effect (Maxim have several derivatives). RS232 with its high voltage swing...

Re: LTC6802 based 12 cell slave.
You may well be right Peter, but I remember using "that JAL language" back in (about) 2001 in a number of albeit non-critical projects very successfully as I recall, so it's actually been around for a while. After all, it's free which might encourage others to get involved, and quite well ...

Re: LTC6802 based 12 cell slave.
Excellent work Greg, that looks like a nicely laid out board.
Fingers crossed with the 6802 though, 0.5mm pin separation ain't gonna be easy!

Re: CALB CA series cell performances
OK, some good (i.e. clear) news in an email from Peter: Again.... first look in the pdf: Expl%201.jpg selfmade BMS can be accept, if the system has the functions. CALB will provide the warranty also if i will lay in future only at a sandy beach........ But first the reseller must controll the cells....
