Hi And welcome to the BVS forum.

That is a very interesting looking battery monitor.

You say it is for your citroen C1 ev'ie? what size cells do you have in it as you show a 19.8kwh battery pack? are they 240 ah ones?

Was this easy to make, and do you connect to the 9 pin adaptor that connects to the BMS at all?

Hi Matt! Yes, my monitor is connected to the 9 pin connector BMS. I have installed in the C1 additional 25 pieces with 100Ah (25 * 160Ah + 100Ah). For the current and power display I have a current sensor to be mounted and temperature sensor for the batteries and the outside temperature. A second charger is also fitted, now I can charge with 32A. The range of C1 is now about 170km and it's fun.

Hi Lerry,

It looks like you have done lots of work on your C1 EV'ie. I am amazed to see a secondary battery pack in the car. Does it run in parallel with the existing battery pack? How have you got the controller to know there is now a bigger pack - have you re programmed it?

Also, how did you interface with the 9 pin connector? Is there a special command to get it to give out the voltage readings and BMS information ?

Now, a range of 170km would be nice to have - at the moment I am getting about 90km in my car in the warm weather,

I would like the know more about your car.

Hi Matt,
the second is parallell betteriepack switched to origional battery pack. the current distribution is approximately 3:2 (160Ah: 100Ah)
Curtis in the new Batteriekapzität of 260Ah must be set.
The original setting for the 160Ah batteries is set in Curtis with 140Ah.

so that the BDI makes the right and also the%-indication "Batch Ramp Time" must be set to half when using a second charger, since the BDI can not measure the load current.

I saved the "Regen Current Limit" changed from 5A to 75A in Curtis
to have a better engine braking but the BDI indicating thereby gets a small inaccuracy because it ignores the power of recuperation.

To measure the current for my battery monitor I have in the main power cable with a built-in current sensor it is now possible to load, recuperation and driving to measure the current and calculate the battery charge.
The current measurements and drive the load will always be stored in an EPROM on each trip so that you have the correct battery indication.

There are several commands (which I will not publish here) the BMS request to send back the battery information.

Hi Lerry,

That is the one thing that would be nice on these cars - is if they could count the recouperation ( regen ) power on to the BDI.

How did you manage to get the data out of the car BMS to get the voltage readings? Did you reverse engineer it, or is it a simple case of some simple command to tell the BMS to start transmtting data?

I am hoping to do some work on my car soon. I am going to change 3 of the cells in the battery pack, and I also need to check the heater as to why it has stopped working.

Hi, looks great ;) do You have a website With some info about the data format from the bms serial adaptor? I would line to make something like You have , i planned to use arduino to proces data, what kind of controller are You using ?

Hi! I am using the Atmel ATmega2560.
The serial communication of BMS commands is in my brain and ATmega2560.
I will not publish my week long work here.
